How and with what to drink Kahlua liqueur

Since the company's founding, Kahlua liqueurs have become the most flavorful alcoholic beverages in the world.
In summer, cocktails go well with ice, and in winter they warm well. They contain alcohol and hot chocolate, which will help the body warm up and add vitality. You choose for yourself what to drink the liqueur-based drink with. You can add various spices to them, for example, pieces of ice and orange peel, as well as cinnamon or whipped cream. There are no rules in this matter, the main thing is that you like the drink.

Kahlua liqueur is often added in the confectionery industry. It makes culinary products even tastier. It soaks well into the dough and gives it a unique taste and aroma. It is also used to make ice cream, cookies, candies and cakes.

Types of drink

The range of coffee liqueurs of the brand has now been expanded to a large number of positions, which will allow anyone to choose Kahlua to their taste. For example, the line of 20-proof liqueurs was expanded in 2006 and is represented by the following varieties:

  • Kahlua Classic (20% alcohol everywhere and 21.5% in Ohio) with notes of nuts and cream;
  • Original with the natural and rich taste of Arabica coffee;
  • French Vanilla: French vanilla is especially good “as is” over ice due to its vanilla aftertaste;
  • Hazelnut with a nutty and creamy taste that perfectly complements cold or hot coffee;
  • Chili Chocolate: milk chocolate + hot chili;
  • Mocha, which is reminiscent of chocolate brownie;
  • Peppermint Mocha: same with peppermint; limited edition for the holidays; good with ice or hot chocolate;
  • Salted Caramel with nuances of caramel and salt in the bouquet;
  • Pumpkin Spice is a great addition to Halloween cocktails, with the fall flavors of pumpkin and seasonal spices;
  • Cinnamon Spice is an alcoholic analogue of traditional Mexican coffee with cinnamon and cane sugar.

Kahlua liqueur is also available in stronger versions, the alcohol content of which is 35%:

  • Especial Coffee made from the best Arabica beans, served with a martini or over ice;
  • Midnight Coffee is a variety created for parties, with increased strength.

In addition to liqueurs, the company produces ready-to-drink cocktails with Kahlua in bottles.

Milk coffee liqueur

To make milk-coffee liqueur at home you will need the following ingredients:

  • any strong alcohol (vodka, cognac, alcohol) - 1 liter;
  • ground coffee – 200 grams;
  • milk – 400 ml;
  • confectionery vanillin – 1 gram;
  • filtered water – 200 ml;

Preparation

To prepare the drink, it is better to grind the coffee beans immediately before the process. However, if this is not possible, then a ready-made ground product will do. Freshly ground coffee will give the liqueur a pronounced taste and aroma.

Another feature in preparing milk-coffee liqueur according to this recipe is its infusion and filtering. Alcohol-drenched coffee and vanillin are placed in a dark place and infused for a week. After the expiration date, the tincture is filtered using any available method (gauze, paper filter, etc.) and water, milk and sugar are added.

The container with the resulting mixture is closed and left again for 12 days in a dark place. The finished liquor will be cloudy, so it must be carefully filtered and poured into bottles, after which they are tightly capped.

Milk-coffee liqueur can be stored in a cool place for no more than 3 months.

Cocktails with Kahlua liqueur

Incaluarable

Using Kahlua liqueurs as a base for cocktails, bartenders prepare more than 200 varieties of hot and cold drinks. The most popular cocktails are “Kalua Black Russian”, “Kalua White Russian” and “B-52”. These recipes are included in the list of the International Bartenders Association, but the composition is purely advisory, so each bartender can prepare the drink to his own taste.

It is traditional to serve them in old-fashioned glasses (an old-fashioned style of glassware).

"Kalua black Russian"

Kahlua black Russian with ice

The cooking principle is quite simple:

You need to pour ice into the glass so that it takes up 2/3 of the container; carefully pour in 50 ml of pure Russian vodka and 20 ml of Kahlua coffee liqueur; Gently stir with a long bar spoon.

To give a refined taste, replace vodka with other alcoholic beverages, in particular, Scotch whiskey, ale, cola or even beer. Some recipes call for adding a few drops of lemon juice to add freshness and zesty flavor.

"Kahlua White Russian"

“White Russian” is more of a popular slogan, made famous thanks to the film “The Big Lebowski”, in which the main character used this very term. This cocktail differs from the “Black Russian” only in that whipped cream is also added to the main ingredients.

This recipe also has many variations, the most famous modifications being replacing the vodka with Cuban rum or whiskey, and sometimes adding chocolate syrup or Baileys liqueur instead of whipped cream.

The most famous is “B-52”

B-52 - when burning, drunk through a cocktail straw

“B-52” - a mixture consisting of three ingredients, is a dessert and is prepared using the following technology:

  • liqueurs (usually 20 ml each) of coffee Kahlua (can be replaced with Carolis) and orange Grand Marinière are poured into a tall glass alternately in layers in equal proportions;
  • Under no circumstances should the layers be mixed;
  • The contents of the glass are set on fire and the drink is ready.

Today, several varieties of preparing the B-52 cocktail are known.

B-51the top layer is replaced with Flangelico nut liqueur
B-52 fully loadedadditionally add Flangelino liqueur and Bakrdi rum as a fourth layer
B-53the middle layer is replaced with anise
B-54"Amaretto" with a nutty flavor is placed as the third top layer instead of orange
B-55the strongest version of the cocktail, in which the final layer is absinthe “Xenta”
B-57an unusual cocktail, instead of cream liqueur, a layer of mint schnapps is poured into the composition

To create a festive atmosphere and give the party an aristocratic feel, prepare cocktails based on Kahlua liqueur. They will be appropriate for a romantic dinner by candlelight. “Kahlua cocktails” is a sign of quality for low-alcohol drinks.

Kahlua Coffee Liqueur Recipes

On the RuNet you can often find recipes for coffee liqueurs with the addition of milk, including condensed milk, and this is not entirely correct. Milk is added to low-quality analogues of coffee liqueurs - it masks the taste of robusta and low-quality alcohol. We can do without milk.

The simplest coffee liqueur recipe

We will need:

  • 350 g brown sugar;
  • 240 g white sugar;
  • 470 ml water;
  • 120 g instant coffee;
  • 700 ml vodka;
  • ½ vanilla bean, divided into two parts or 2 tsp. vanilla extract.

Preparation:

Pour sugar into water and bring to a boil, cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved. Reduce heat and add coffee, stir until coffee is completely dissolved. Remove the coffee syrup from the heat and cool to room temperature, add vanilla and pour vodka over everything. Place the container with liqueur in a cool, dark place for 2-4 weeks. Then remove the sediment, filter and drink with pleasure. If you are using vanilla extract, you can try drinking homemade coffee liqueur right away.

*/Vanilla extract recipe/

Vanilla extract is used mainly in cooking, but it is also good for making homemade infusions. Traditionally it has a strength of 35%. It is very easy to prepare it at home.

The extract can be replaced with vanilla sugar: instead of 1 tsp. For vanilla extract, it is enough to take 10-15 g of vanilla sugar, but extract is preferable.

You need to take 250 ml of high-quality vodka and 8 vanilla pods (25 grams). The vanilla needs to be cut into two parts lengthwise, the beans (grains) should be separated, thrown into a clean glass container (preferably made of dark glass), the pods themselves should be crushed into small 2 cm plates and also added to the jar. Pour vodka over vanilla, seal tightly and leave to infuse in a dark place for 30 days. For the first week, the extract needs to be shaken every day, the remaining three – 2-3 times a week.

The extract can be used after 30 days of infusion, but it takes 6 months to fully mature - after this period it can be strained and stored for 5 to 10 years (the extract will only get better over time). It is mistakenly believed that vanilla extract turns out better with alcohol - a 35% solution extracts 10% more vanilla essential oils than pure 96% alcohol.

Another recipe for homemade coffee liqueur

Ingredients:

  • 750 ml 50% vodka (diluted alcohol);
  • 700 g sugar;
  • 240 ml water;
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee;
  • 1 vanilla pod (4 tsp extract).

Preparation:

Add sugar and coffee to water and keep on low heat, stirring constantly, until completely dissolved. Cool the coffee syrup, add vodka and mix well. Place a vanilla pod in a 2-liter bottle and fill it with our coffee-vodka solution. Place in a dark place for 30 days, preferably shake daily so that the sugar and coffee are completely dissolved. After a month, decant from the sediment and filter.

Optimal Kahlua Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1400 g sugar;
  • 1400 ml water;
  • 20 tsp instant coffee;
  • 1.9 liters of vodka;
  • 12 tsp vanilla extract.

Preparation:

Add sugar and coffee to water and bring to a slow boil. Keep the syrup on low heat for 1 hour. Remove from heat, cover the container in which the syrup was cooked with plastic wrap (you can use cling film) and let the syrup steep for 12 hours. Then add vodka and vanilla to the syrup, mix well and pour into dark bottles.

Recipe note: Makes 3 liters of finished drink. You can drink it immediately; it is not recommended to store it for a long time, so it makes sense to add only half of the ingredients.

In all recipes, vodka can be replaced with rum, preferably Jamaican, then the resulting liqueur will be more similar to Tia Maria.

Coffee liqueur with espresso (Espresso Infused Vodka)

Ingredients:

  • 500 ml 50% vodka (diluted alcohol);
  • 250 ml espresso from a coffee machine/coffee maker;
  • 450 g sugar;
  • 1 vanilla pod (4 tsp extract).

Preparation:

Place the espresso on the fire and dissolve the sugar in it. Cool the syrup to room temperature. Add vodka and vanilla to the syrup and leave the drink for 6 days in a dark place, stirring a couple of times a day. Filter through a cotton or paper (coffee) filter and bottle. This version of coffee liqueur is only getting better every day, so don’t rush to drink it right away, but let it sit for a while.

This is what homemade coffee liqueur looks like.

As you can see, making coffee liqueur at home is not so difficult, but the end result is an excellent drink that can be drunk either neat with or without ice, or as part of cocktails. Bon appetit!

Currently, Kahlua is produced in different strengths: from 20% to 36%. In some drinking establishments, bartenders offer shakes that are made exclusively from the strongest types of Kahlua.
