Types of coffee drinks

If we talk about coffee drinks in general, we can say that there are quite a lot of varieties of coffee drinks. The main ones are the following types, which are prepared on the basis of coffee:

  • Espresso. The drink is famous throughout Europe. It requires special grinding of grains, which has an even structure. It is prepared in special coffee machines from Arabica and Robusta blends. A good delicacy, prepared according to all the rules, will be distinguished by a light creamy foam, which is characterized by stability. It is preferable to drink it hot so that the foam does not have time to settle. For a full taste, it is customary to mix the stable foam with the liquid and then enjoy the drink. One cup of espresso is about 35g;
  • Doppio. Double portion of expresso for real gourmets who will not be surprised by anything;
  • Romano. A type of espresso served with lemon zest and a lemon slice. It is customary to drink without adding baked goods, after meals;
  • Ristretto. Very strong coffee, served in small portions. To prepare it, you only need 25 ml of water and 7 g of coffee, which allows you to understand how strong it turns out. In Russia, not many people prefer it, but in Italy it is very popular. It is customary to serve this type along with a glass of cold water. Here water is used to keep the taste buds clean. They drink the drink in the following way: take a few sips of water and quickly drink the ristretto. By the way, water also serves as a warning against dehydration after such strong coffee;
  • Viennese coffee. Whipped cream is added to regular espresso. The top is sprinkled with grated chocolate and spices. Most often served in large cups. Consumers prefer it along with some dessert at any time of the day or night. Usually coffee and whipped cream are not mixed, but are drunk gradually;
  • Lungo. This is something between espresso and Americano itself. Here the espresso portion is increased by adding water. It is preferred by consumers who cannot drink strong coffee, but do not want to give it up completely;
  • Americano. This type is also prepared on the basis of espresso, which is diluted with water. Having prepared 30 ml of the drink, it is diluted with approximately another 100 ml of water. This increases volume without adding additional caffeine. Supplement with milk or cream, sugar. They prefer to enjoy it with freshly baked pastries or some cookies;

And these are not all types of coffee drinks - can you imagine?

  • Con pana. Made with espresso and decorated with whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon. Often the coffee and cream are stirred before drinking;
  • Coretto is a delicacy prepared with the addition of alcohol, for example whiskey, vodka, cognac. Consumers prefer it in the frosty season when they need to stay warm. Often supplemented with honey or sugar;
  • Irish. Brewed espresso is complemented with strong alcohol and cream, lushly whipped into foam. Consumed without sugar, but can be supplemented with toppings;
  • Macchiato. It is espresso with the addition of milk foam. Does not mix;
  • Glasse. Served with ice cream and chocolate chips. It is consumed chilled and is therefore popular in summer.

In fact, the range of coffee drinks is quite wide and this is only a small part of the most famous. It is not uncommon for various cocktails to be made based on coffee.

During the first 15 seconds of coffee extraction, essential coffee oils enter the ristretto, and caffeine begins to be released later. Ristretto is called “the most Italian coffee.” From the language of Petrarch and Dante, its name is translated as “strong”. This drink is a few sips of vigor. The water cleanses your taste buds, allowing you to taste the bitterness and strength of the ristretto.

Espresso-based coffee drinks

Cappuccino is one of the most popular coffee drinks in the world. It received this name due to its color, reminiscent of the robe of the Capuchin monks. All over the world it is believed that it was the monks who came up with the idea of adding frothed milk to coffee. Cappuccino is prepared in this way: a portion of espresso is mixed with milk and milk foam in a one-to-one ratio. Milk foam is created by heating the milk and infusing it with air bubbles, making the drink delicious. DeLonghi coffee machines, equipped with the Automatic capuccino system, prepare the kind of drink that is served in the best restaurants. Milk cappuccino foam will be a real treat. Do you know how to check if a cappuccino is prepared correctly? To do this, pour sugar on top of the foam in the cup. If the foam is whipped as intended, the sugar will remain on the surface of the cappuccino. It is believed that latte art (the art of drawing on coffee foam) is also an invention of the Capuchin monks.

Latte macchiato (Latte macchiato Italian - “stained milk”) is a hot drink consisting of espresso coffee and milk in a ratio of about 1:3 (one part espresso, three parts milk).

The drink is served in tall glasses so that it looks like its name.

Glace or Glise (Iced coffee) – natural coffee with ice or ice cream, with added sugar and milk.
