Features and range of Kimbo coffee

Brand history

Kimbo is a coffee that belongs to the Italian company Café de Brasil, which is currently considered one of the largest and most famous suppliers of the Italian drink. This brand is not at all young and has long established itself in the world market. Its history began back in 1950 in Naples. At first, the company was a family business, its members had extensive experience in roasting beans and preparing the drink, which allowed them to create their own coffee blends for espresso.

The creators of Café de Brasil faced a difficult task: they decided to revive the world-famous taste and aroma of the famous Neapolitan coffee, for the preparation of which Arabica coffee is used. Their experiments with new blends were so successful that already in the seventies, Café de Brasil became very famous in its market. And in 1994, the company already boldly took second place in terms of volume of drink produced in Italy. Currently, Kimbo is a coffee produced by an Italian company, which is very famous outside its homeland. The drink gained wide popularity due to its excellent qualities. It is especially loved in European countries.

History of the brand

The history of Café do Brasil began as a small family business, organized in the early 50s of the last century in Naples. Its creators not only had great ambitions for their business, but were also well versed in the technologies of roasting, preparing and storing coffee. Therefore, the company quickly gained a positive reputation, and the owners themselves began to make huge plans for the future.

Their first experiments were very successful, and in the 1970s, Café do Brasil coffee gained enormous popularity in the Italian market. Since then, the company has developed at a rapid pace and already in 1994 ranked second in terms of coffee production in Italy. At the moment, the products of this coffee brand are widely known and in demand in many European countries.

In 1971, the company registered a new brand, Kimbo. The name comes from the word jumbo, which was very popular in post-war times (translated from English as “giant”), which was often used by Americans. By replacing the first letter in this word, the Rubino brothers received the name “Kimbo”: short, sonorous and with a touch of exoticism.

At the end of the 20th century, Kimbo was exported to Europe, the USA, Japan, Australia, and the Middle East. In the Italian retail packaged coffee market, the company has been ranked second after Lavazza since 1994. The Melito di Napoli plant, where Kimbo coffee is produced, covers an area of 40,000 m².

Under the leadership of the new president, the range of coffee blends in capsules was expanded, and the company began producing 3-kilogram tin packages of beans especially for coffee shops.

After opening, such jars can be immediately attached to the receiving hopper of the coffee grinder, so the beans practically do not come into contact with air and the smell does not disappear. Cafè do Brasil has acquired the UK distribution network of the Metropolitan Coffee Company and the luxury Gran Caffè bar in Capri. In France, the company serves 10,000 bars.

One of the most interesting projects. It is produced specifically for the international Autogrill chain. The bags of coffee mixtures have pictures printed on them to attract customers. Now such coffee can be purchased in 500 retail outlets in Italy and 2000 in ten European countries. In just 2 years, 200 million cups of “designer coffee” were sold in Europe.

In 2010, Michel Rubino and his sister Maria put up their 31% stake in the company for sale. The rest of the Rubino family were forced to buy him out. Due to the troubles, the company was in a fever for 3 years, the management changed several times.

Coffee Kimbo

Kimbo coffee has been produced by Kimbo Caffè SpA for almost 50 years, which is second only to Lavazza in terms of production volume among Italian companies. “Kimbo” is famous for its perfect Neapolitan roasting; the beans are supplied to 50 countries.

The main goal set by the founders of Café do Brasil is to revive the world-famous taste of coffee prepared according to the classic Neapolitan recipe. Only the best Arabica coffee beans were used for its production.

Production Features

The production of Neapolitan Kimbo has its own technological features. When preparing it, frying is done with hot air. This method is called convection; it allows you to fry absolutely all the grains very evenly. An interesting fact is that each variety is fried separately at an individual temperature. And only after all this do they blend the mixture.

The end result is high-quality products with a unique aroma and excellent taste, which can be enjoyed by millions of customers around the world. The main fundamental difference between this brand’s invigorating drink is the use of Arabica beans, which are imported only from Latin America.

Raw materials and production

To make good coffee, you need to know how to choose beans and monitor their quality. The company's technologists monitor all phases of growth and ripening of coffee cherries on selected plantations, and then process them using the dry method, clean them and send them to a factory in Italy. The brand works with Robusta and Arabica beans.

The plant in Naples occupies almost 40,000 square meters, and here all areas are combined - from sorting and determining the quality of still green beans, to roasting them (each batch and variety separately), blending, packaging and testing.

The company has received several international certificates confirming the environmental friendliness and technical excellence of all production processes, so that the quality of their products can be completely trusted.

Recipe for making a fragrant drink

It's no secret that coffee brewed in Turkish has an indescribable aroma and taste. But how to create it correctly? It should be borne in mind that the drink turns out stronger and richer with longer preparation. For this reason, on a gas stove it must be cooked on the lowest heat. In addition, it should be borne in mind that you should not bring coffee to a boil, as this spoils its taste. A drink that is on the verge of boiling is considered ideal.

Coffee brewed in a Turk according to all the rules will delight you with its taste and aroma. And this is done as follows:

  • The Turk must first be heated, which will allow the grains to open.
  • Next, coffee is added in the ratio of 1 teaspoon per hundred milliliters of liquid, but this proportion can be changed at will. Then sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger, anise and other ingredients are added to taste.
  • A milder taste can be achieved by adding a small amount of salt.
  • Next, the mixture is filled with water.
  • Heat the drink over low heat until foamy. You need to wait until it rises to the top edge of the turk, and you can remove it from the heat. Under no circumstances should you overheat coffee; this will have a detrimental effect on it.
  • The cup into which you will pour the finished drink must be preheated.

True gourmets prefer to drink coffee with water. According to the rules, the custard drink is served with a glass of water. It is believed that while drinking, you should sometimes take a sip of clean water, which makes it possible to feel the aroma and taste of coffee with greater intensity.
