Origin of the brand
The history of the brand goes back more than a hundred years: the company, which at that time had a much narrower specialization, began its existence in 1912. The Davidoff brand was founded by Zinovy Davydov, who was born in Kyiv, and subsequently emigrated with his family to Geneva and soon changed his first and last name to Zino Davidoff.
Brand founder Zino Davidoff
His father was engaged in the sale of tobacco and cigarettes of various types. Zino Davidoff followed in his footsteps: he traveled to South America, where he studied technologies for growing various varieties of tobacco. After this, Zino went to Cuba, where he stayed for 5 years and became an expert in the tobacco business. Returning home to Switzerland in 1929, he took over the family business after the death of his father.
In 1946, the company released the first branded line of Davidoff cigars, which conquered not only Europe but also America with their quality. In the 1980s, Zino Davidoff began producing luxury goods such as perfume, cognac, glasses, watches, and writing instruments. Since the 1990s, the company began producing coffee from selected Arabica beans.
Today the owner is Tchibo Company
After Zino's death in 1994, the Davidoff tobacco and coffee brands were acquired from his heirs by the German company Tchibo. Now coffee is produced by this coffee magnate under license in Germany and some other European countries.

Espresso 57
The line includes ground, bean and instant coffee.
This line combines ground, bean and instant coffee. This is the most recognizable and popular product among all types from Davidoff. It began to be produced in the 1990s. Espresso 57 consists of 100% Arabica beans, the beans of which were collected on plantations in Latin America, the Pacific region and Africa.
The grains have undergone a high degree of roasting. It is to her that this species owes its name (57). This method allows you to create conditions for the full development of the aroma of the beans.
The finished drink has a rich taste with characteristic bitterness and a hint of sourness. It leaves a pleasant aftertaste with notes of thick cocoa.
From ground Davidoff Espresso 57 you can brew a delicious drink in a cezve. For the classic recipe you will need a heaped teaspoon of ground coffee and 150 ml of water. You need to prepare the drink like this:
- keep the cezve on the fire for 15 seconds;
- pour the product and add water, mix thoroughly, put on low heat;
- While it is boiling, slightly warm the cup into which the drink will be poured;
- Turn off the heat as soon as the coffee starts to rise.
In no case should you bring it to a boil, as this will kill its aroma and dull its taste. Leave the drink for another minute, then pour it into a cup. When you first try this type, it is not recommended to add cream, coffee or topping in order to experience the pure taste and aroma of the blend.
Limited Edition Elements

Reviews from fans
There are many reviews about the Davidoff brand on the Internet. Having carefully studied them, we can come to the conclusion that everyone who tried this product was divided into two camps: the first found it noble and tasty, although unusual, the second found it sour and did not live up to expectations.
For example, one coffee lover calls Davidoff the gold standard and highlights the rich taste and aroma that other types of coffee do not have. The author appreciated the pleasant astringency and absence of extraneous aromas in the finished drink.
Not all coffee connoisseurs like the sour taste
In one of the reviews, the author claims that Davidoff brand coffee supplied to Russian markets is significantly inferior in quality and taste to the product sold in Europe and America. The author states that he personally compared the taste of the drinks.
In another review, the aroma and taste of Davidoff coffee is called not very pronounced and lacks any zest. The sourness of the drink is emphasized, which also did not delight the consumer. In general, Davidoff coffee is characterized as a product “for everyone.”
Brand of coffee for everyone
Many of those who shared reviews of this coffee indicate that the product’s packaging is promising, but deceptive: lured by the appearance and the well-known brand name, commentators were dissatisfied with the quality of the finished drink due to the lack of richness and strong acidity of the taste.

Are there fake Davidoff coffees on the Russian market?
No evidence of obvious counterfeiting of Davidoff coffee was found on the Internet. Cognac and perfumes of this brand are usually counterfeited.
To identify a fake, you should pay special attention to the packaging.
To distinguish genuine coffee from fake coffee, you need to pay attention to some signs. For an obvious counterfeit:
- unevenly glued labels;
- The barcode of the product does not match the country of manufacture indicated on the packaging;
- The font on the labels and the product is unclear and blurry. There are errors in the translation into Russian.
To be sure of the quality of the product, you should open the official website of the brand and compare it.
