Homemade electric coffee machine from scratch in bookmarks 10

What is espresso?

Espresso is prepared at home by passing hot water through a filter with ground coffee. This is exactly how our espresso coffee maker will work.

A shot of espresso can be regular, double or triple (30, 60 and 90 ml). For each serving you need 7-8, 14-16, and 21-24 grams of coffee, respectively.

There is no generally accepted standard for preparing espresso at home, but the pressure most often cited in sources is 9 bar.

We will tell you how to make an espresso coffee maker with your own hands.

Geyser coffee machine

The simplest one to make is a geyser-type coffee machine. The easiest way is to make the main unit responsible for making coffee. This homemade coffee maker looks something like this:

  1. At the bottom there is a water container.
  2. A two-chamber block is installed on it, the lower part of which is a container for ground coffee, the upper part is a compartment for the finished drink.

This homemade coffee machine works simply: when the liquid is heated, steam passes through the ground coffee, and the resulting drink enters the upper compartment through a vertical tube. As it accumulates, you can pour it into a cup and enjoy the taste. The design diagram is shown in the photo.

The operating principle of a geyser-type coffee maker

A homemade coffee machine of this class is equipped with heating elements made of nichrome wire. In practice, to reduce labor intensity, you can take a simple route - adapt the lower heating plate from an electric kettle. This solution is very beneficial:

  • temperature is controlled;
  • The internal safety system, which is present in many heating elements, will prevent the possibility of accidents.

A homemade geyser coffee machine served as a prototype for a serial product produced by Soviet industry.

There were also coffee machines for motorists, capable of preparing a cup or two of aromatic drink using a cigarette lighter.

What are the requirements for our pocket espresso machine?

  • An espresso coffee maker should fit in your jeans pocket
  • To make a coffee machine, simple, not scarce materials should be used
  • The tools used in the project should be simple and publicly available
  • All components must be assembled in one housing
  • An espresso coffee machine should be low-cost.

Patented version of a homemade coffee machine

Let us note right away: the answer to the question of how to make a full-cycle coffee machine with your own hands has not been found. The most effective option involves separating operations. A grain mill is made separately; the simplest solution can be a steel screw installation for grinding spices. There are also devices with electric and manual drive, but there is not much difference between them.

The prepared ground coffee is poured into a homemade coffee maker. One of the interesting developments, for which a patent has even been received, is a device designed by engineer Vladimir Oreshkin. This is a durable, double-walled chamber made from solid billet and equipped with an outlet for draining the finished drink.

To prepare espresso, place a steel container with water inside and add a portion of ground coffee. The lid closes securely, it does not have sealing gaskets - the grinding principle is implemented. When the container is heated, the full effect of steaming the coffee is observed, which allows you to achieve the rich taste and aroma of espresso. The original model of the homemade coffee maker was designed to be installed on a gas stove.

  • What is espresso coffee and how to prepare it correctly

Based on this development, many craftsmen have come up with improved versions of coffee makers. They added their own heaters, both electric and using alcohol and paraffin burners.

Such a device can be an extremely attractive companion for those who prefer hiking and extreme travel to other pastimes.

DIY vacuum coffee maker

Hello DIYers! Surely many of us love coffee and drink it every day. Many of us drink regular instant coffee, but not everyone likes it or is simply tired of it, and then they want something more than coffee from a bag. Then buying a coffee maker comes to mind, but why buy one if you can make it yourself.

In this article I will try to describe to you the assembly of a simple and inexpensive vacuum coffee maker.

This interesting device is somewhat reminiscent of a geyser coffee maker and a French press, however, due to the constant heating of the water, the color of the drink is more saturated, and due to filtering, there is no sediment in the cup. The vacuum coffee maker is quite little known, but has a long history. The operating principle, known in ancient times, was first used to make coffee in the century before last, and was improved only in the middle of the last.

The design of a vacuum coffee maker includes: • two communicating flasks of a certain shape made of thin borosilicate glass • a gas burner • a nylon filter with the smallest cells • a stand.

To make a vacuum coffee maker you will need:

1- Two large and one small glass bulb. 2- Glass tube. 3- Sandpaper. 4- Metal washer. 5- Sealant. 6- Bor machine. 7- Pliers. 8- Ruler. 9- Two sockets for light bulbs. 10- Wooden blanks. 11- Fastening for pipes. 12- Drill. 13- Screwdriver. 14- Wick. 15- File

Making a vacuum coffee maker.

1- First you need a simple glass light bulb. The bottom part of the light bulb should be removed. This should be done using sandpaper and a flat screwdriver. First we grind it down with sandpaper, and then we break out this part with a screwdriver.

2- After we have removed the bottom part of the light bulb, use pliers to remove the inner central part.

3- But you won’t be able to do this right away, and you’ll have to use a bur machine. We grind the inner glass part with a machine, so that all the excess insides can be pulled out without any problems. 4- We should end up with a completely empty bulb, but it is important to leave the thread in place.

5- After which you will need sandpaper again. Let's take the blank we just made and grind its upper part a little less than half.

6- As a result, we should get something like the one in the photo below.

7- For the next step you will need to find or purchase a glass tube of small diameter.

8- Using a ruler, mark approximately 15 cm on the glass tube.

9- After which you need to trim off the excess from the glass tube. But you probably won’t be able to simply cut it off, as it will begin to crumble and crack, so you should not cut it off, but grind it. Grinding should be done with a thin, not very gritty file. 10- After which you will need a metal washer with a diameter equal to the diameter of the glass tube. The washer should be secured to the end of the glass tube, secured with sealant, but so as not to block the hole.

11- You should get something like this (see photo below).

12- Then you should connect the two pieces you just made. It should be connected as shown in the photo below. 13- And we will fasten the two workpieces using sealant.

14- We should have something like this.

15- For the next step you will need a similar base for light bulbs. It can be purchased at any electronics store or Sveta stores.

16- The metal part should be removed from this base. To do this, simply unscrew the two screws using a screwdriver.

17- We connect these two parts in a similar way.

18- Then we will make a stand for our vacuum coffee maker. To do this, you will need a wooden block, from which we make the stand. 19- As a result, we should have a stand approximately like the one in the photo below. [center]

20- Next, you will need fasteners for the pipes, it should be secured to the stand you just made, as it is shown in the photo below. 21- A structure of light bulbs should be mounted on this stand, as shown in the photo below. 22- We also take out all the internal parts from the small light bulb so that one sphere with thread remains. And install it in the stand. The author used a candle in a metal case as a stand for this light bulb.

23- Done!

Making coffee.

Our vacuum coffee maker is ready! Now all that remains is to figure out how to use it. IMPORTANT: after we have finished everything, it should be rinsed well.

1- Pour alcohol into a small light bulb and insert the wick.

2- Unscrew the bottom light bulb and pour clean water into it.

3- Screw the light bulb into place

4- Then we take a nylon filter and place it on the bottom of the top light bulb, pressing it with a metal washer.

5- Pour a spoonful of coffee.

6- And we light the wick of our alcohol lamp.

7- We wait until all the water from the bottom bulb moves to the top.

8- Then we remove the alcohol lamp and wait for all the coffee to flow down.

9- Unscrew the bottom light bulb.

10- And pour it into a glass.

Conclusion:

As a result, we got a rather original coffee maker with which you can easily make your own coffee. Of course, this is not a coffee machine, but it will get the job done, and it does it well. Also, this homemade product can serve as a kitchen decoration and will look like a stained glass object that will surely surprise your guests.

Well, that’s all, thank you for your attention, I hope this article was useful to you and will definitely be useful to you, and you also have a wonderful opportunity to see the video assembly of this homemade product.
