Calorie content and benefits of coffee with milk: recipe

Benefits of coffee brewed with milk

If many people consider a pure black drink to be the main enemy of the heart and blood vessels, then coffee with milk or cream has much less negative effects on the body, so even hypertensive people drink it. The first recipes for making a drink with added milk appeared in Italy and France. The Italians invented a magnificent and high-calorie cappuccino, and the French invented a delicate and soft latte.

You can make coffee with milk using several dozen recipes. They will differ in the ratio of the two main ingredients, the fat content of the milk component, the way it is combined with coffee, and the presence of additional ingredients. Either way, some of the harmful effects of coffee on humans will be reduced and the benefits will be increased.

So, why is drinking such a drink beneficial?

  • Milk softens the effect of caffeine, which stimulates the nervous system, increases heart rate and blood flow. This is very important for people with problems with the cardiovascular system.
  • The invigorating drink is known to leach calcium from bone tissue. Milk replenishes mineral losses.
  • Milk increases the calorie content of the drink, so for those on a diet it can act as a dessert.
  • For some problems in the gastrointestinal tract, coffee with milk does not irritate the mucous membrane so much, which means it does not cause discomfort and spasms.
  • The drink makes you a little weaker, which is a positive thing for people with bowel problems. It helps to empty your bowels regularly, making it gentle and painless.

What else is the product useful for? It's just very tasty. It is for the pleasant taste that many people like to add milk or cream to their cup. And the pleasure of food is a good mood and a charge of positive energy.

Now about the cons. Drinking such a drink in large quantities is harmful for any person, especially for hypertensive patients and a pregnant woman. For stomach ulcers and chronic gastritis, it is generally contraindicated. There is information about a negative effect on liver function. In addition, when a drink enters the gastrointestinal tract, under the influence of special enzymes, difficult-to-digest components are formed from it, which later turn into waste and are difficult to remove from the body.

Only natural coffee and natural milk can be beneficial

You should not drink an invigorating drink immediately after or during a meal. This greatly slows down the digestion of food and contributes to excess weight gain. People get fat by eating even a small portion of lunch.

It is believed that caffeine in combination with animal protein almost completely loses its tonic function, so it is better to drink a pure drink in the morning and add cream to the cup in the afternoon. This regimen will not cause addiction to the body and will not allow insomnia to develop.

Coffee with condensed milk

True sweet tooths will love coffee with condensed milk. It's not at all difficult to prepare. By the way, for this you only need to have three main ingredients:

  • 100 milliliters of clean water;
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground coffee;
  • condensed whole milk.

Making this drink is very simple:

  1. First you need to brew classic coffee using water in a Turk.
  2. Let it sit for a while and then pour it into a cup.
  3. Add condensed milk (no restrictions) and stir.

If desired, of course, you can add a little more sugar. But in classic condensed milk there is already quite enough of it. The result is excellent coffee with a pleasant, creamy aroma. By the way, you can even drink it cold. To do this, you just need to pour the drink into a glass and add a few ice cubes.

In addition, you need to remember one important rule: you cannot pour milk into hot, freshly brewed coffee . It may curl and the drink will be completely ruined.

Types of coffee with milk

Milk can be added to coffee in different ways. This can be a cold product, heated, foamed, whipped to a thick consistency. The ratio of coffee to milk is important. The final taste, appearance, calorie content and name depend on this.

Types of drinks and proportions of milk and coffee, respectively:

  • cappuccino (1/1);
  • latte (3/4);
  • latte macchiato (1/3).

These are classic drinks, for which precise technological maps have been compiled, serving and execution options are described. There is also a variety of cocktails with the addition of a variety of additional ingredients from liqueurs and syrups to alcohol and chocolate. At home, you can brew coffee with milk in a Turkish coffee pot or a coffee machine; some people do it directly in a mug and are very pleased with the speed of preparation and the taste of the drink.

How to replace milk in coffee during Lent

On the eve of religious holidays, believers have to deny themselves many things. It is known that food of animal origin is strictly prohibited during fasting. This religious tradition forces people to radically reconsider their daily diet. What about those who are used to drinking coffee with milk in this case? But this is not at all difficult. Indeed, today there are a huge number of different substitutes for cow's milk of plant origin . They can be used to prepare your favorite drink without fear of breaking strict rules. Among the most popular replacement options it is worth highlighting:

  1. Coconut milk. It is a sweetish white liquid with a characteristic aroma. True, it does not exist in its natural form. This milk is made by mixing coconut pulp with juice. It is practically never consumed in its pure form. But this milk is ideal for making drinks.
  2. Almond milk. This is also a mixture of water and pulp. The main distinguishing feature of this milk is its high calcium content, which sets it apart from the rest of its analogues.
  3. Soy milk. It is made from a dry mixture obtained by boiling pre-soaked soybeans. This product is well absorbed by the human body. No wonder it is even included in infant formula.

Each of these products is good in its own way. But none of them gives the characteristic aroma that is inherent in natural cow's milk.

How to cook in a Turk

It is best to make real milk coffee in a Turk. Moreover, you need to cook it not in water, but in milk. This can be done with the following components:

  • 100 milliliters of full-fat cow's milk;
  • 1 teaspoon of ground coffee beans;
  • 1 cube of cane sugar.

How to properly prepare Turkish coffee with milk:

  1. You will need special utensils for this work. In this case, you will need a Turk with a wide neck. First of all, you need to pour a portion of ground coffee into it.
  2. Pour in the milk without stirring the ingredients.
  3. Set the turk to moderate heat on the stove. As the milk heats up, it will begin to rise. As soon as it reaches the edge of the dish, remove the Turk and mix the contents with a spoon. Repeat the procedure three times.
  4. Pour coffee into cups.
  5. Add sugar and mix.

The drink turns out rich and quite strong. This is because milk, when boiled, is more active than water in drawing aromatic oils and caffeine from the ground beans.

Calorie content

How many calories are in a cup of coffee with milk. It is difficult to accurately indicate the calorie content of a drink due to the variety of recipes, different ratios of products, their fat content and other factors. You can roughly calculate the calorie content of an individual ingredient, and later of a cup of the finished drink.

Sugar and milk fat add calories to the drink.

  • 100 ml of milk 3% fat contains 60 kcal.
  • 100 ml of ground or instant coffee contains 0-2 kcal.
  • In 1 tsp. sugar 25 kcal.

It turns out that the average cup of a drink with sugar contains 70 kcal. If skim milk is used and no sweetener is added, the calorie content will be 10-12 kcal. You can safely drink this drink while on a diet without fear of gaining excess weight. In addition, it helps control appetite and is an additional source of energy.

Coffee made with milk or with the addition of milk is much softer and more pleasant to the taste. It does not burden the nervous system of a modern, intensively working person, but gives him additional minutes of positive emotions. This is a healthy drink in many ways, although it has its drawbacks.

With coconut milk

Exotic lovers will definitely enjoy the original version of traditional coffee with coconut milk. In addition to its bright taste, this drink is distinguished by a pleasant tropical aroma, which is imbued with the spirit of the distant Caribbean islands. To prepare it you will need only 5 main components:

  • 1 tablespoon ground coffee;
  • half a glass of drinking water;
  • 30 milliliters of coconut and 140 milliliters of cow's milk;
  • 10-15 grams of sugar.

You need to prepare this drink in stages:

  1. Pour the coffee into a clean cup.
  2. Fill it with drinking water.
  3. Put the Turk on fire. In this case, the flame should be small.
  4. As the heat increases, foam will appear on the surface and begin to rise gradually. After this, the Turk must be immediately removed from the heat. When the foam settles, it must be placed on the stove again. Repeat this operation twice.
  5. Pour coconut milk into a clean cup.
  6. Add prepared hot coffee, add sugar (optional) and stir.
  7. Whisk the cow's milk separately into a fluffy foam.
  8. Gently pour it in a thin stream into the cup with the coffee-coconut mixture.

It is better to drink the prepared drink immediately, since the delicate creamy foam, in contact with warm coffee, will begin to quickly settle.

Number of calories in coffee without sugar

The number of calories in coffee without any additives, including without sugar, in one cup is only 2 kcal. However, you need to be a special gourmet to drink bitter, freshly brewed coffee without additives. If you are looking for a balance between natural black coffee and coffee with many other components, then it is best to give preference to Americano (espresso + water). It contains less caffeine because the water stays in contact with the coffee beans for longer than in natural coffee. Therefore, the calories in coffee without sugar look very tempting, but drinking such a drink is almost impossible.

Chains such as McDonald's and Starbucks sell coffee in 450 gram glasses. This is a bit much for those who want to lose weight. It is best to brew it at home and use small mugs. This way you can reduce the number of calories in coffee with sugar by reducing the volume.

Milk makes the drink more caloric

The calorie content of a cup of espresso (as well as ristretto, lungo and Americano) without sugar is about 2 kcal, which is slightly more than the zero-calorie content of ordinary drinking water. Milk, which contains more fat, dramatically increases the nutritional value of the drink. For comparison: the calorie content of a cup of cappuccino without sugar is 33.45–37.65 kcal, and those with a sweet tooth get coffee containing 52.80–57.00 kcal. The energy value of a latte is even higher: depending on the amount of milk in the sugar-free drink, it ranges from 56.5 to 110.7 kcal. When adding sugar (or, more often, syrup), the calorie content increases to 130.05 kcal. Everyone's favorite fatty sweet raf contains up to 190 kcal (which is slightly less than 1/10 of the daily requirement for the average city dweller who is not engaged in physical labor or sports).

In general, if you want to lose weight, drink coffee without milk and sugar.

With added cinnamon

Coffee with milk will become much tastier if you add some spices to it, for example, cinnamon. It will make the aroma of the drink more piquant. This coffee can be prepared in different ways. For one of the options, you will need:

  • 3 teaspoons finely ground coffee;
  • 200 milliliters of cold water;
  • 15 grams of sugar;
  • 100 milliliters of whole fat milk;
  • 1/5 teaspoon ground cinnamon.

This coffee is prepared in almost 15 minutes. You only need:

  1. To boil water.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix coffee with ground cinnamon and sugar.
  3. Pour boiling water over the food and let it sit for a few minutes, covering the container with a saucer.
  4. Heat milk in a saucepan.
  5. Pour it into cups.
  6. Add the coffee brewed during this time.

The result is simply an amazing drink with an original, sophisticated aroma that you will want to make again and again.
